Thinking of having lessons, look no further! Don't even consider anybody else John is the best. I wouldn't be anywhere without him in my musical career when I started I was unaware you even had to tune a guitar! I listened to Rock music but had little musical knowledge. I've now paid gigs up and down the country, played on BBC radio have music videos and have toured! I'm also studying music business at university. Non of this would have been possible without the dedication, patience, and over all professionalism given by John both in and out of lessons. With John the lessons don't stop when he leaves the door. You get a great musician with endless knowledge of music gear and advice. I didn't just have a music tutor I made a great contact and most importantly a great friend!

I started lessons with John in Jan 2013, and can tell you that I wouldn't have progressed as far as I have without him. A few of my friends also use John for bass/guitar lessons based on my recommendation. He'll listen to what you want to achieve - for example I wanted to learn everything, so we've covered sight reading (I played violin for 20 years so the switch from treble to bass clef was tricky), major/minor/modal chords, pick, finger and slap styles. On the other hand, one of my friends just wanted to learn songs for her own pleasure without the need to read music, and he just did that with them. One of the most important things he taught me was proper technique and gave me finger stretching exercises to widen my span! So, in a nutshell he's brilliant. Always on time, and flexible in his approach to ensure you get what you want to achieve!

Fantastic teacher, all round great guy, would highly recommend. Both my sons has Guitar (Acoustic and Electric) and drum lessons. John has a great talent and coaching skills. We've had lessons at our home for the last 5 years, and would highly recommend John.

I highly recommend John as a guitar teacher, having had remote lessons with him I find the lessons really convenient to arrange and have learnt a lot over the last few years I’ve been having lessons with John. During the lessons I’ve been given tips on proper technique which I feel has drastically improved my playing and he gives music to practice that you listen to and want to play which I find keeps me motivated. He also sets out stuff to work on for next lesson which I really find keeps me focused and practising outside of lessons also. Again I cannot recommend John enough!

John is an enthusiastic and very patient teacher. He teaches both myself and my daughter and tailors the lessons to our individual needs. He is always happy to explain the theory of what you’re playing and will spend the time helping you get the correct sound to match the piece your playing.

was a fellow Tutor of John's at Morley Academy, Leeds and would highly recommend him. He was very popular with the pupils and a very good colleague to work with. John is a highly skilled musician and a dedicated tutor. During the pandemic John was able to switch easily to online teaching as he has a well equipped studio with the necessary technology. I would definitely recommend John to be part of a teaching team.

John teaches our 12 year old daughter the drums. She has a great relationship with John and feels completely at ease, is not afraid to make mistakes or ask questions. He is an amazing musician, tutor and his musical knowledge is second to none! John is always very flexible if we need to move a lesson and always happy to lend help and advice on instrument purchases and song music choices. We have watched John play lead guitar with his band All Of The Above on many occasions and they absolutely rock! This is when you can see that music is not only his job but his passion. I cannot recommend John enough as a tutor.
